Department of Art Guest Artist: Linda Cordell - Workshop

SEP 20, 2017 01:00 PM - 04:00 PM

1062 Ceramics, Bliss Hall

Linda Cordell, a child of the revisionist era, makes work that reinterprets the figurine, enabling animals to break the chains of cuteness and noble savagery. An appreciation of the ridiculous, a love of beauty and skilled craftsmanship, and the belief that domestic objects are social propaganda all contribute to her work. Cordell is a recipient of an Evelyn Shapiro Foundation Fellowship and a Pew Fellowship in the Arts in the category of crafts and her work has been exhibited in the Cheongju International Craft Biennale at the National Cheongju Museum, Korea; the Everson Museum of Art, Syracuse, NY; among others. Linda Cordell received her MFA from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA and currently lives in Philadelphia, PA.
