Basketball Programs Meet Fans at Annual Tipoff Banquet

Youngstown -- Close to 150 guests joined the Youngstown State men's and women's basketball teams at the Penguin Club's Annual Tipoff Banquet on Sunday at the Beeghly Center.

Head Coaches Jerry Slocum and Cindy Martin, YSU President Dr. David Sweet and Horizon League Commissioner Jon LeCrone were the program's featured speakers.

The evening was emceed by YSU Assistant Athletics Director Robb Schmidt and dinner was prepared and served by The Georgetown.

The women's team opens the 2009-10 season at Elon, Friday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. while the men take on NCAA Sweet 16 participant Xavier, Friday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in Cincinnati, Ohio. The men's game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Ohio.

The women's team also hosts Lake Erie College in an exhibition game on Friday, Nov. 6, at 7:05 p.m. at the Beeghly Center.
