Softball Announces 2010 Captains, NFCA All-Academic Selections
Youngstown -- In a vote by their teammates, junior pitcher Danielle Chase and junior infielder Kim Klonowski have been selected as the team captains for the 2010 softball season, Youngstown State Head Coach Brian Campbell announced on Tuesday.
Klonowski, an All-Horizon League Second-Team selection in 2009, led the team with eight home runs, a .540 slugging percentage and 32 runs batted in and tied for the team lead with 53 hits last season.
Junior Kim Klonowski was named to
the 2009 All-Horizon League
Second-Team.
Chase, who only made one appearance in the circle before a
season-ending knee injury, has six career victories and 71 career strikeouts.
In academic news, Youngstown State ranked 87th in Division I with a 3.100 team grade-point average and three players earned spots on the NFCA/Girls Got Game All-Academic Team.
Chase, Tasha Hess and senior Erin Schindler were named to the All-Academic Team after posting a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 during the 2008-09 academic year.
