YSU Opens 2009-10 Slate At BGSU Tom Stubbs Relays

Bowling Green, Ohio -- The Youngstown State swimming squad opener their 2009-10 slate at the Tom Stubbs Relays hosted by Bowling Green on Friday night. Also competing in the relays were Oakland and Akron.

The meet features a variety of relays outside of the normal five -- 200 yard medley relay, 400 yard medley relay, 200, 400 and 800-yard freestyle.

The young Penguins featured eight swimmers who were making their collegiate debuts. Also, YSU was without some of its veteran swimmers as junior Caitlin Cook, junior Ashley Williamson and senior Jennifer Johnstone did not compete.

The only event YSU did not finish last or in the final two places was the 400-yard freestyle relay in which they placed seventh out of nine teams.

Youngstown State returns to action next Friday when they play host to five-time defending Horizon League Champion Green Bay. The meet is set to start at 5 p.m. at the Beeghly Natatorium.
