Penguins Get Set to Host Five-Time Defending League
Champ Green Bay

The Youngstown
State swimming and diving team opens
the dual meet portion of its season
against five-time defending Horizon
League Champion Green Bay on Friday
at the Beeghly Natatorium. The event
is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
The Penguins
opened their 2009-10 season last
Friday at the Tom Stubbs Relays in
Bowling Green. YSU competed without
senior Jennifer Johnstone and
juniors Caitlin Cook and Ashley
Williamson. It also marked the first
collegiate competition for eight new
swimmers on the squad.
This Friday, the
Penguins play host to Green Bay
squad that opens the season on
Thursday with a dual meet at Wright
State before heading over the
Northeast Ohio. The Phoenix complete
its trip by visiting Cleveland State
on Saturday before heading home.
At last year's
Horizon League Championship, Green
Bay won the team title scoring 859
points.
Last season in
Green Bay, the Penguins lost 186-97
to the Phoenix in late January. UWGB
was 11-2 in dual meets last season
while the Guins were 4-10.
This is the
first meet at the Beeghly Natatorium
between the two schools since
October 2007.
The YSU divers
have a busy weekend. Following
Friday's meet, the Penguins take
part in the Clarion Diving
Invitational on Sunday morning.
