Penguins Wrap Up Successful
Camp Season, Set Sights on Fall
Youngstown
-- More than 550 individuals participated in
the annual Youngstown State Volleyball Summer Camp
Series over the last two weeks on campus.
More than 50 teams from Ohio,
Pennsylvania, Michigan and New York participated in
the two team camps, and more than 40 girls took
part in the three-day individual skills camp.
"I'm very pleased that we
continue to expand our camps and the region we draw
from," YSU head volleyball coach Joe Bonner said.
"Many sectional, district and state finalists have
come through our camp over the last couple years."
Martina Davis, Suzanne
Lasseigne and Angela Roidt, YSU's three National
Letter of Intent signees for 2009, were all on
campus for the individual camp and took part in the
team's photo day on July 17.
Now that the camp season has
ended, Bonner and the Penguins will turn their
attention to the upcoming 2009 season. The team
reports to campus on Aug. 10, and the
season opener is set for Aug. 28 against Villanova.
The Penguins return 11 letterwinners, four starters
and their libero from last season. |
