Kristina Kluesner Named Volunteer Director of Women's Basketball Operations
Youngstown -- Kristina Kluesner has been named the Director of Operations for the Youngstown State University Women's Basketball team, YSU head coach Cindy Martin announced.
Kluesner comes to YSU with two seasons of operations experience in the WNBA, two years of coaching at the high school level and six months of graduate assistant work at Central Methodist University.
Kluesner's main responsibilities will be film exchange, assisting with travel and helping in the office. She will be serving on a volunteer basis.
"We are really fortunate to have someone with Kristina's experience join us as a volunteer this season," Martin said. "She impressed us on her interview, and her eagerness to move here from Louisville (Ky.) to join us as a volunteer speaks volumes. Kristina is a hard worker, and we are excited to have her join our coaching staff."
Kluesner's first experience in basketball operations came as an intern for the Indiana Fever of the WNBA during the summer of 2006. The following summer, she worked gameday operations with the Washington Mystics of the WNBA.
As a student at the University of Louisville, Kluesner served as the head junior varsity coach and assistant varsity coach for two seasons at Waggener High in Louisville. Most recently, Kluesner was a graduate assistant at Central Methodist, an NAIA school in Fayette, Mo. from June to December in 2008. This is her first stint working at a Division I university.
"This is a great opportunity to further my knowledge in the game of basketball," Kluesner said. "I'm also excited to work with an experienced and enthusiastic coaching staff."
Kluesner graduated in 2007 from Louisville with a bachelor's degree in sport administration.
