Blase Runs Personal-Best 6k Time at BGSU Falcon Invite
Bowling Green, Ohio -- In the final meet before the Horizon League Championships, senior Lauren Blase ran a personal-best 6k time to lead the women's cross country squad to a seventh-place finish, while the men's team finished 10th at the BGSU Falcon Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Blase's 6k time of 22:32 was good for eighth place at the event and ranks third in school history. Junior Kayla Witmer was the second Penguin to finish, as she ran a time of 23:13 to finish in 30th.
Freshman Katherine Digby finished in 59th with a time of 23:55. In 75th was Lisa Lee, whose time of 24:19 was good for 75th. Samantha Hamilton, a freshman, rounded out the scoring for the Penguins with a 82nd place time of 24:28.
Nelly Yegon, Dawn Goodwin and Kelcie Witmer also competed for the Penguins at the meet. Yegon finished in 115th (25:24), while Goodwin and Witmer both a ran time of 26:31.
For the men, freshman Kiplangat Tisia ran an 8k time of 25:39 to finish 22nd. Junior Jake Lape was the next Penguin to finish, as he took 32nd with a time of 25:59.
Jake Dialesandro ran a time of 26:38 to claim 71st. Joe Copploe finished in 88th with a time of 26:51. JIm Ramson was the final Penguin scorer, finishing 108th with a time of 27:27.
Also competing for the Penguins were Rick Lape, Scott Denham, Aron Korir and Lance Ronghi. Lape finished in 111th (27:35), Denham claimed 116th (27:44), Korir was in 161st (29:12) and Ronghi finished in in 170th (29:43).
The Penguins take the upcoming Saturday off before returning to action Oct. 31, when they take part in the Horizon League Championships in Milford, Mich.
